Public service is public service in the year 1865! Mr. Govind Phadke and his wife Mrs. Yashodabai Phadke from Raigad district came to Girgaon and bought the land there and the area came to be known as ‘Phadke Wadi’. In 1890, Shri Ganapati Murthy was established here. That is, this temple today has a history of one hundred and thirty three years. On January 21, 1922, the trust was legally established under the name ‘The Yashodabai Govind Gangadhar Charitable Trust’. Now let’s know a little about the idols in the temple. This ‘Phadke Shri Ganapati Temple’ in Girgaon has Ganesha idol along with Riddhi Siddhi and Panchayat is also here. There are only three idols of this style in India and one of them is the one at Girgaon. Various activities under the trust have been divided into three sections namely religious, social and educational activities. As part of religious activities, Panchamriti Puja is performed daily to all the idols included in this panchayat. Various religious activities like Ganeshotsav and Gauri Pujan in Bhadrapada, Tulsi wedding in Diwali, Ganesha Janmotsav in Maghi month, Holika Pujan in Falguna, Lagurudra on Mahashivaratri are organized here. During the Maghi Ganesh festival, various lectures are organized to impart knowledge. At this time Suvarna Ganesha is worshiped at the birth of Ganesha. Many social activities have been undertaken by the trust. Nine hundred families have been given food till now under the food donation scheme which was started in the post-corona period. Our government has also launched an initiative called Tuberculosis Free India. Supporting that initiative, the temple trust has started the work of providing nutritious food to tuberculosis patients. In this regard, the Central Health Department has given a certificate of appreciation to this trust. Also financial support has also been provided for the surgery of cataract patients in association with the trust of the temple and the Rotary Club of Malabar Hill. Also, after the Pulwama incident, the trust has also provided financial support of one lakh rupees to Veerpatni. Even during Killari Earthquake, Kargil War, the Trust maintained its social commitment by providing financial support to the concerned. Scholarships have been given to thousands of students over the past fifty years under the educational initiative. Scholarships were also given to students going to study abroad for many years. In the post-corona period, these materials were given to three hundred students according to the examination material distribution scheme for the 10th class students. Textbooks are also distributed to the students in class IX and X. The most important thing is that Diwali Faral is also given to the people in Dongri Children’s Reformatory by the trust and some of the children are also counseled by the trust under the campaign ‘Udan’. For the year 2023, ‘The Yashodabai Govind Gangadhar Phadke Charitable Trust’ is the patron of Dongri Children’s Reformatory. Hemant Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of the temple said, “We implement such activities with the cooperation of our temple board of trustees and all our colleagues. In the next few months, we will also provide free blood pressure monitoring devices and glucometers to the needy people.
